Daily Decisions

Hello, and happy Tuesday!

How was everyone’s weekend? I didn’t have the most productive weekend in the world. But I did get a new iPhone on Saturday morning, so I’m pretty sure that gives me a free 24-hour pass to be anti-social and gadget-obsessed (and to take selfies).

No, I did not wait for the new iPhone to come out. I don't want to discuss it.

Here’s where we’re at

Over the long Labor Day weekend I became re-addicted to exercise and blogging. Woo hoo! These are my favorite things to be addicted to :). In celebration of my addictions, I did my first weigh-in. This is what 181 pounds looks like on me:

September and I

September is my favorite month to crack open; Tis a month of new beginnings! I’m so glad I didn’t have to go to work today. Usually when blessed with a day off I would “reward” myself with some sort of over-indulgent breakfast combination like french toast, bacon, eggs, AND potatoes — but not today. I was kind to my body this morning while also throughly enjoying my breakfast. Isn’t it weird how healthy food can actually be enjoyable? I think it’s totally weird.

If you can’t tell, those are sliced peaches on the left there, and on the right we have oatmeal with Continue reading

Discipline isn’t, discipline is.

Today was one of those days when I REALLY did not want to work out. I was tired from work, blah blah blah.  (Eight point five hours at The Duck Store during football season can be fairly exhausting).

Miraculously, I mustered up the nerve Continue reading

I made a decision

Hola, readers! I hope everyone is enjoying the early September vibes. Personally, I am having a very leisurely three-day (YES, THREE DAY!) weekend. I thought that this particular Sunday called for an indulgence at brunch time. You know, to celebrate my leisure.

Post-meal verdict: Try a towering slice of hazelnut pound cake at Ken’s Artisan Bakery on NW 21st.  Continue reading

Back on track, buddy.

As I looked back on my last post from March (MARCH!?), I was intrigued by the information I found there. Intrigued because it seemed like four years ago that I quit my job at LA Fitness. In reality, it was about four months ago. In the time that I have been away from NMM, I have acquired a part time job at Starbucks. Because I know you want to come in and get a Decaf-Triple-Grande-Vanilla-Nonfat-No Foam-Latte from me, I work at the one on SW Park and Clay in downtown Portland.

All I have to say about my ninety days working for the company, is that Continue reading

Namely, it’s Spaghetti Squash

So you know those forty-or-so extra points that Weight Watchers gives you for treats and stuff throughout the week? Well, yesterday I used A LOT of them. Twenty-two to be exact.

To give you some perspective, Continue reading

The pressure is off

Don’t you just love fall? I do.

It has gotten to be a very brisk fall night in my house and although I am chilly, sleepy and sweaty from my workout, I have to write now. I accidentally clicked on my bookmark to Orangette and received one of those little whispers in my ear Continue reading

A muffin is okay if I have enough points

Let’s skip the whole “I’m sorry, No Moore Muffins, that I ignored you for a whole month and a half” thingy. Because I don’t want to make excuses. But I will throw out a few.

In my absence, I managed to get a job at Bally Total Fitness and then get my hours cut down to diddly squat, move out of the house where I grew up, go on a fabulous trip to Seattle, win football tickets to the Ducks vs. Missouri State, run a 5k in Race For the Cure, and attend my first baby shower. I live and work in Portland now. There, now you’re all caught up.

What I really want to talk about is Continue reading

A call for help

I really like cheeseburgers. I have been eating an awful lot of cheeseburgers this month and I can’t say that I’m all that sorry about it. They’re just so appropriate in this beautiful (kinda) weather we’re having.

While burgers and sweet potato fries have been frequenting my plate, I have also been Continue reading
