4 Things I Love About My New Job

Although college seems like it happened ages ago (because it did), I faintly remember a slightly younger Jenni who had a thirst for experience in the media and communications industry. I actively sought my audience by creating No Moore Muffins, and I had dreams of contributing to big magazines like Women’s Health and O, The Oprah Magazine in New York City. For the first time in a long time, I am now settling back into that version of myself. It feels natural—just like my hair. And I love it.

So when all my friends and family ask me “What’s new?” the answer I should give them is “everything.” In reality, the response I eventually conjure is something like Continue reading

Why I’m Stressing Out, But Not Really

Shortly after my father died in 1992, my mom packed up our life in Anchorage, Alaska and moved  my two-year-old brother and four-year-old me to a significantly less gloomy place: a spacious apartment in Lake Oswego, Oregon. It has been 22 years since then, and Oregon has been the only place I have ever called “home.”

Apartment Found?

As of today, I am 2 weeks away from my move-in date. That is, if I am approved for the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. (Although, to be honest it’s a little north of Greenwood still. Bitter Lake is the more precise location.)

I drove up to Seattle on Wednesday to hand out a couple resumés and view a couple apartment options. First of all, let me just say Continue reading

Moving Day

In case you haven’t noticed, I struggle quite a bit with this blog. I think I have severe emotional and mental damage from worrying about its survival. I just get so bored rehashing out my days. You guys don’t care about the mundane events of my day to day life, do you? I didn’t think so.

That being said, you might be interested to learn that I am finally (YES GOD FINALLY) moving out of my parents’ home and into a fabulously located apartment in downtown Portland. If you’re familiar with downtown Portland (and you really should be — it’s so small!), it’s on 12th and Columbia and very near PSU. Here’s the street view I found on Google maps.

Weekend Recap & New Writing Internship

I overslept this morning and was 15 minutes late to work. *Sigh* Mondays.  -__-

I don’t know about everyone else, but I had a pretty swell weekend that I wouldn’t mind rewinding. The highlights? For one, I was pretty proud of myself for forcing myself into 30 minutes of cardio on Friday (yes, Friday) night.

Also, I’m pleased to announce that listening to Continue reading

Daily Decisions

Hello, and happy Tuesday!

How was everyone’s weekend? I didn’t have the most productive weekend in the world. But I did get a new iPhone on Saturday morning, so I’m pretty sure that gives me a free 24-hour pass to be anti-social and gadget-obsessed (and to take selfies).

No, I did not wait for the new iPhone to come out. I don't want to discuss it.

Here’s where we’re at

Over the long Labor Day weekend I became re-addicted to exercise and blogging. Woo hoo! These are my favorite things to be addicted to :). In celebration of my addictions, I did my first weigh-in. This is what 181 pounds looks like on me:

On Monday my mom decided she wanted to make us both feel like I was 17 again, and offered to take me shopping Continue reading
